Bluetooth Fairy at Menlyn Park
iPods and mini-makeover vouchers are among the goodies that
Menlyn Park Shopping Centre in Pretoria, South Africa, has been handing out to
shoppers since it introduced its Bluetooth loyalty programme.
Until 31st December, Menlyn Park is encouraging customers to visit the
information kiosks at retail shops Top CD and Maxis to register their mobile
phones on the centre’s Bluetooth system. At that time, customers can select
which retail categories interests them most and then opt in to receive
information via their mobile phone throughout the year—categories include Women
Lifestyle, Mens Lifestyle, Home & Décor, Leisure & Entertainment and Electronics
& Technology. Once shoppers are registered, the Bluetooth system will offer them
personalised service every time they visit Menlyn Park.
That enhanced experience begins the moment customers enter the property, as the
system will greet them by names. They’ll then be sent messages about promotions
and discounts that match their interests, with the option to select "Yes" or
"No" on their phone to indicate whether or not they want to view the message. If
they don’t select anything, the message simply goes away.
Working hand in hand with the Bluetooth service, Menlyn Park launched a mobile
site called Mobiz (www.Mobiz.co.za). Shoppers can access the site by entering
the URL into any GPRS-enabled phone.
Mobiz features mall information such as services, events, promotions,
entertainment and a store directory.
